The defender will miss England's FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Latvia due to a physical issue and the defender – who did not participate in England's three-nil friendly victory over Wales at Wembley – will return to his team Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool defender has been a regular in the team's defence this campaign but the national squad said no further squad replacements were planned for the qualification match in the Latvian capital on Tuesday.
